How to Get to the Krkonose

Various means of transport can be used to get to the highest Czech mountains. Travelling between Krkonose villages has been easier since the introduction of the Krkonose cyclobuses operated by the Krkonose Union of Towns and Boroughs.

By Car

For most people, the car is the most comfortable means of transport. If you go by car to the Krkonose, you must remember that you are in the Krkonossky National Park area and pay special attention to nature conservation. This is also the reason why access by car is prohibited in some places, such as Zlate navrsi, Spindlerova bouda and others, and only local buses can be used, or a special permit must be purchased from the Krkonossky National Park Administration. A suitable road to the Krkonose can be found, for instance, at

By Train

Given the altitude of many Krkonose towns and villages, and a landscape characterised by steep valleys and peaks, the mountain range lacks train connections in many places. Travelling by train actually means changing trains and takes much time. Railway terminals are located in Harrachov, Rokytnice, Vrchlabi, Trutnov, Svoboda nad Upou and Zacler. Connections can be found

By Bus

Direct bus lines to various places in the Krkonose are operated especially from Hradec Kralove and Praha. There is at least one direct line once a day from more distant places such as Brno or Usti nad Labem. Suitable connections can be found at
Other connections from Prague, but also from Poland or Germany to Harrachov, Jablonec nad Nisou and Liberec can be found at
